Team WinTech enjoyed another strong showing at the 2026 Schools’ Head of the River, with crews racing in our shells delivering category victories and a number of impressive performances along the Championship Course.
With more than 300 crews racing from Mortlake to Putney, the event once again provided one of the biggest fixtures of the junior head racing calendar. Schools from across the UK took on the 4.25-mile Tideway course, producing competitive racing across championship, school and junior categories in preparation for the summer regattas to come.
A number of crews racing in WinTech shells delivered standout performances, with three category wins banked. One of the highlights of the day for Team WinTech came in the Boys’ Championship Quadruple Sculls, where Windsor Boys’ School produced an excellent row to take the victory in a WinTech Cobra. In the same event, Claires Court School also featured strongly, finishing seventh in a competitive championship field.
The Girls’ Championship Quadruple Sculls also saw WinTech crews feature prominently. Maidenhead Rowing Club delivered a strong performance to finish fifth, while Oundle School followed closely behind in eighth place, highlighting the depth of competitive sculling crews racing in WinTech boats.
In the younger age groups, Reading Blue Coat School delivered an impressive performance to win the Boys’ School First J15 Eights, producing a composed row down the Tideway in a WinTech shell. Sir William Perkins’s School also secured victory in the Girls’ School J15 Eights, adding another win for Team WinTech in the junior categories.
Elsewhere across the programme, a number of WinTech crews recorded strong finishes in highly competitive school events. Bedford Girls’ School secured fourth place in the Girls’ School First Eights, while their second crew also finished sixth in the Girls’ School Second Eights. Sir William Perkins’s School added another solid result with seventh place in the same event.
In the boys’ eights racing, Canford School delivered a strong performance to finish fifth in the Boys’ School First Eights and also recorded further promising results elsewhere, finishing fifth in the Mixed School Eights and sixth in another school category later in the racing.
The junior girls’ categories also saw WinTech crews feature strongly. Headington School placed fourth in the Girls’ Championship J15 Eights and later added another fourth-place finish in the Girls’ School Second J15 Eights, rounding out a strong day of racing for the programme.
As the final major head race of the school rowing season, the Schools’ Head of the River provides an important benchmark for crews as they begin turning their focus toward the regatta season ahead. It was fantastic to see so many athletes competing in WinTech shells on the Tideway, and we look forward to supporting these crews as they continue their racing through the spring and summer.
